Live The Life You Love, Use The God You Trust, And Don't Take It All Too Seriously

Blah

I've had a case of the blahs lately. I haven't felt like doing shit. Some stuff has happened since I last updated. Let's see; I had a birthday(36), the Seahawks are going to the Superbowl(HOLY SHIT), my new iPod is amazing, I saw Brokeback Mountain(really good), and we have decided to change our surnames. As a family, I mean. We will be going from Dabbs back to Ellis, which is my biological fathers name, and therefore my birth name. See I was adopted by my stepdad when I was 10. I've been thinking about this for some years now, and now seems as good a time as any. It's just something I feel I need to do. Not that I don't appreciate everything my stepdad has done for me over the years. I mean, he is the only father I have ever known. He IS my dad. I don't even really know my birth dad, despite repeated attempts on my part to have a relationship with him. The last time I saw him was when Chloe was 6 months old. Anyway I feel like I've just laid a big pile on everyone so I'll quit for now. So that's where Ive been for the last month. Later.

I Am Totally Freaking Out!!!!

So you all know about my iPod issues, right? Well, today, my parents(that's a rich subject that could occupy about 200 paragraphs and not scratch the surface), bought me a new iPod 60GB Video for my birthday!?! Now, I don't want this to come off as "Ha Ha look what I got", as this was out of left field(another saying that I would like to know the origin of) and all. But Seriously!!! And to top it off, I had just returned my messed up one to Costco today! Sometimes I wonder what these beings who took the parents I grew up with's place did with the orignals, because, come on. These are not the people I was raised by. The dad who, not once, but twice, grounded me for 3 months without even phone contact from the outside world, for getting an F on my report card in high school!?!? Anyway, I am dumbfounded.

So This Is The New Year

And I don't feel any different. Sorry, that was from a song I like. So we all tried to stay up last night for the festivities, but Henry and I had to take a little nap on the way. Around 10:00 we fell asleep and woke back up at 11:45, just in time to see the main event. It was super. Then we slept in until 8:00 this morning. For Henry that is pretty amazing. Not much else to report, otherwise. My parents gave us a digital video camera today. They bought it 2 years ago and never really used it, so they thought we might like it. That was pretty cool.

Now here is my list of the best(in my opinion) albums of 2005(which means you should give 'em a spin). In no particular order they are:

Beck 'Guero' -That funky white boy has done it again
Audioslave 'Out Of Exile' -Stunning follow up to perfect debut
Foo Fighters 'In Your Honor' -Kick ass double disc without a dull moment
Death Cab For Cutie 'Plans' -Wow
Franz Ferdinand 'You Could Have It So Much Better' -These Scots flat out rock
Liz Phair 'Somebody's Miracle' -Deeply personal and fantastic as usual
The White Stripes 'Get Behind Me Satan' -They just keep getting better
System Of A Down 'Mezmerize/Hypnotize' -Double album that came out 6 months apart is metal at it's best
Arcade Fire 'Funeral' -I know it came out at the end of '04 but it fucking rules

Well that's what I listened to most of the last year. There were probably a few others but I can't recall them right now, so if I missed any that were worth a crap, let me know. Until next time kids....
