Hey There

Not much going on in my life right now. That's a nice change after the last several weeks. What with Chloe and myself working so much on Beauty and the Beast. That was a lot of fun. I hope everyone got to see it. It was a really good play. I still enjoyed it after seeing it 10 times. Squeeze in work and a concert during that week and you can see why I was so beat.

I finished a really good book last week, Dry: A Memoir by Augusten Burroughs. Very good. That is a nice advantage to taking the bus to work. Audiobooks. I feel like I'm getting something done on the way to and from. Why not "regular" reading you ask? Well I don't know how many of you have ridden the "Loser Cruiser" before, but there are a lot of loud, white trash types on there who want to share their miserable life story of jail time, illegitimate children, welfare problems and drug use with anyone within earshot(the entire bus)of them. That is distracting when you are concentrating on a book. iPod lets me drown them out. Thank Heaven.

Nothing much else to say about anything else. Been watching a very funny show called Little Britain on DVD from Netflix. We highly recommend it. Total riot. I was wrong about the new System Of A Down album, Hypnotize, coming out on the 4th. It comes out on Nov. 22. That seems like a long time to wait. You are all saying "Who cares, I don't even know what you're talking about". That's O.K. It's exciting to me. Gotta go get ready for granddads lunch today, see ya later.....

In Walla Walla? Seriously?!

When I woke up on Wednesday morn, I never imagined my day would end at midnight after a trip out of town to a concert. Me, Chloe, my boss Heath and his nephew, Nolan went to Whitman College and saw Death Cab For Cutie for $10 bucks!!!

It all happened so fast that it still seems unreal. At 11:40 we found out about the show and by 12:15 we had a plan to go. Heath offered to drive and it was a go. It seems that the school gave out free tickets to students, faculty and staff who wanted to attend. The extras went on sale at 5:30, first come first serve. We got there at 5:45, just as they sold out. We decided to stay in line to see if more would become available.

One hour later, the first student turned in a ticket they weren't using, so they sold it to us, as we were at the front of the line. Five minutes later we had a second. Chloe and I were set, so we went to get food while a student working the event went to try and find more tix. At the school library she got 2 more for Heath and Nolan. O lucky day!

After dinner we went into the auditorium and waited. The opening band is from Australia and are called Youth Group. Don't let the lame name fool you though. They fucking rocked !!! I'm very impressed to say the least. Hopefully foolhardy Heath will purchase their cd and I can get a free copy. He's like that you see. He bought a Death Cab cd that I don't have there. I'll get a copy by Tuesday. Sweet.

On to the main event. Death Cab didn't start until 9:35 (a little late, but what the hell). From the first notes of the first song (Marching Bands Of Manhattan) ,to the last encore song (I believe it was We Looked Like Giants), and everything in between, Holy Shit they were AWESOME!!!! They sound sooooo good live! They played a pretty large variety off their last 3 albums, and a few early ones too. Killer! They finished up at 11:15. What a show. What a day. Did I mention how amazing they were?

Anyway that's about it for now. That's all my big news for they week. By the way, if you're interested, Franz Ferdinand's new album is also really good. Do yourself a favor and check out both of these great bands. You'll be glad you did!

...And All I Got Was This Lousy Shirt !!

About a month ago, my boss said "Hey, would you wanna go see Audioslave for free in Portland in the company box suite at the Rosegarden with me?"

I say "Fuckin' A!!"

Well time passes and circumstances change and I realize that I cannot go to the show. Totally lame. O well. That's life, right? Shit happens, and if you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Taking two days off work, that is.

Well, the day arrived (Last tues. the 27th of Sept.) and Heath (my boss) calls me at work to ask "Are you sure you don't wanna go?"

I say "It's not that I DON'T WANNA go, I can't go, but thanks anyway."

Well, one thing leads to another and, the next thing you know Max (my co-worker) gets MY ticket!!!! What the fuck?! He's like 41 and barely knows who's who band wise. Once I told him who Audioslave was he said " Hey cool, I like those guys."

Well, they went, they had a great time, the show was killer, and I was stuck at work. When they got back they had an incredibly funny story to tell about Max, and they bought me a concert shirt because they felt sorry for me being left behind. What a couple of swell guys.

So that's my story, and I guess I'm done for now so........
